Ellany's Favourite Poems and Prayers on Love, Grace and Freedom

What do we do when meditation no longer suffices to calm our pain? We discover and gravitate toward the power of prayer. Mine started super simple:

  • Please hold my hand. Please hold my hand through this.
  • Please send me comfort in this time of need.
  • Please take away my oppressive thoughts.
  • Please show me love. Please show me love. Please show me love.

Waddya know, with repetition, softening and allowing, they work! May these poems and prayers be balm to your heart and soul.

Poem • Our Deepest Fear by Marianne Williamson

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.

We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us;
It's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.

Poem • Already Are By Ellany Lea

When needing love, cherishing and/or a reminder of your worthiness...

Ellany-Lea-Poem-Already-Are

In case no on ever told you...

I love you for who you are. ⠀
Not for what you do.

I love you for what you’ve already done. ⠀
Not for how much yet to be done.⠀

I love you for who you are.⠀
Not for what you can do for me.⠀

I love you for who you already are.⠀
Not for who you might become. ⠀

I love you for who you are. ⠀
Not what you can give to me.⠀

I love you for what you’ve already given.⠀
Not for what you think I might want.⠀

I want... you.

holy-spring-bali-IMG_0876_1The Serenity Prayer

When needing presence, spaciousness and/or surrender...

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Prayer of Entry by Teresa of Avila

When needing calm, patience and/or trust...

Let nothing disturb you
Let nothing frighten you
All things pass away
God never changes
Patience obtains all thing
He who has God finds he lacks for nothing
God alone suffices

Manifesto of the Brave & Brokenhearted By Brené Brown

There is no greater threat to the critics and cynics and fearmongers
Than those of us who are willing to fall
Because we have learned how to rise.

With skinned knees and bruised hearts;
We choose owning our stories of struggle,
Over hiding, over hustling, over pretending.

When we deny our stories, they define us.
When we run from struggle, we are never free.
So we turn toward truth and look it in the eye.

We will not be characters in our stories.
Not villains, not victims, not even heroes.

We are the authors of our lives.
We write our own daring endings.

We craft love from heartbreak,
Compassion from shame,
Grace from disappointment,
Courage from failure.

Showing up is our power.
Story is our way home.
Truth is our song.

We are the brave and brokenhearted.
We are rising strong.

Fallen From Grace by Marianne Williamson

(From From Tears to Triumph book)

Fallen from Grace Forgiveness Prayer - Marianne Williamson

Dear God [Or if you prefer, replace with Life / Universe],
I surrender to you the pain that is in my heart.
I give to you my failure, my shame, my loss, my devastation.
I know that in you, dear God, all darkness is turned to light.
Pour forth your spirit upon my mind and help me to forgive my past.
Make my life begin again.
Restore my soul and bring me peace.
Comfort me in this painful hour, that I might see again my innocence and good.
I have fallen, dear God, and I feel I cannot rise.
Please lift me up and give me strength.
Set my feet upon the path to peace and help me not to stray again.
I pray for forgiveness.
I am crushed by my failure.
Please show me who I am to you, that self-hatred shall not defeat me.
Help me remember and reclaim my good.
Help me become who you would have me be
and live the life you'd have me live, that my tears shall be no more.
Amen. [Or if you prefer, replace with Namaste or Thank you]

Ho’oponopono Prayer

When needing wholeness and/or connection with self...

I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.

Repetition of poem and prayers moves knowing from the head to the heart into the body back to the soul. 💫
