Knowing that he had access to a gun, I feared that if I escaped and he found me, I could end up paying the ultimate price. One day, the thought came to me that I was already trapped in a living hell and that death would be a kind of release. In that instant, the fear melted away. All I had to do was trust, and then speak my truth, and then walk away.
